Walkways & Paver Driveways
Front walks, garden paths, steps, and paver driveways built for MN plow season.
Overview
What's included
Walkways and driveways take more abuse than any other hardscape on a Minnesota property — foot traffic, vehicle load, plow blades, and salt.
We build them accordingly. Driveways get a deeper base than a patio, typically 12 inches or more of compacted Class 5, with thicker driveway-rated pavers and a soldier course locked in concrete edge restraint so plowing doesn't peel the edges.
Walkways are pitched to shed water away from the foundation and set with consistent joint spacing so the surface stays smooth underfoot. Steps are built to a consistent rise and run — uneven treads are the single most common complaint we get called out to fix on someone else's work.
We can also integrate low-voltage path lighting and heated snow-melt zones on entries and short runs where winter safety matters most.
How We Do It
Our process for walkways & paver driveways
Measure & route
We lay out the run on site, checking slope, drainage, and how people actually walk it.
Excavate & base
Depth set to the load — deeper for driveways, compacted in lifts either way.
Install & cut
Pavers laid to pattern with borders wet-saw cut, steps built to consistent rise.
Lock, light & clean
Edge restraint, polymeric sand, any lighting wired, and full site cleanup.
